What Image Formats Does webp.now Support?

webp.now pivots on WebP: every tool either produces a WebP or converts one into something else. Around 80 source formats and 17 output formats are supported.

Converting from WebP

WebP converts to JPG, JPEG, PNG, PDF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO, SVG, AVIF, HEIC, EPS, PS, PSD, HDR and ODD. The most common by a wide margin are JPG and PNG — the two formats that open in essentially everything.

Converting to WebP: images

JPG, JPEG, JFIF, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, TIF, ICO, TGA, PPM, AVIF, HEIC, HEIF, SVG, SVGZ, EPS, PS, PSD, PSB, XCF and PDF all convert into WebP.

Converting to WebP: RAW camera files

Sony ARW, Canon CR2/CR3/CRW, Nikon NEF, Adobe DNG, Fujifilm RAF, Panasonic RW2, Olympus ORF, Pentax PEF, Hasselblad 3FR, Leaf MOS, Sigma X3F, Kodak DCR, Epson ERF and Minolta MRW are all developed and encoded to WebP, with a white-balance option since RAW carries no baked-in rendering.

Converting to WebP: documents

Word (DOC, DOCX, DOCM, DOT, DOTX, ODT, RTF, TXT), spreadsheets (XLS, XLSX, XLSM, CSV, ODS, Numbers), presentations (PPT, PPTX, ODP, Keynote) and CAD drawings (DWG, DXF, DWF, EMF) are rendered page by page and encoded as WebP images.

What is not supported

Video formats are out of scope — this is an image converter. Animated WebP and animated GIF convert between each other, but MP4, MOV and WebM are not accepted.
